Last year, at the start of the pandemic and during a time where most people were stuck inside during quarantine, Playstation started the Play at Home Initiative. Back then, they offered Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection and Journey to PlayStation players so they had something fun to do while they’re home. Now, almost a year later, PlayStation has announced that Play at Home is back, this time with four months of free content.
Starting on March 1 and ending on March 31, Ratchet & Clank from Insomniac Games will be free to download. Originally released in 2016, Ratchet & Clank is a game based on a movie based on a game. The reimagined action platformer tells the story of how the two titular characters meet and go on their interstellar adventure. It is a PS4 game but any of you lucky enough to own a PlayStation 5 can play the game too with the added benefit of faster load times.
And, just like Uncharted and Journey, the game is yours to keep. So, unlike a PlayStation Plus game, which you lose after you cancel your subscription, these will permanently be part of your digital game library. Along with this, a special offer through Funimation was also announced but more details on that will be given at a later time. All we know now is that offer will start on March 25.
This is just the first month of plans for the Initiative. Seeing as it is now extended until June, PlayStation players have plenty more free games and entertainment offers to look forward to. If you can’t wait to play Ratchet & Clank, or don’t have a PlayStation system that can play it, last weekend we started a walkthrough of the game on Twitch. Click here to check the VOD.
