After an eventful lineup of E3 press conferences, the Summer of Gaming continues with EA Play Live. There were lots of rumors in the weeks leading up to the event, but below are all the names and dates officially discussed at the event.

Just recently, EA has announced the acquisition of Codemasters, the developers of games like next-gen racing game DIRT 5, and at EA Play Live we got a tease at their next game: GRID: Legends. This new installment of the immersive racing sim adds in a story mode that offers a narrative storyline for the GRID tournament using the same tech as Disney’s The Mandalorian. This new GRID game, packed with mixed class races and new modes will be coming sometime in 2022.
A new character trailer was shown for Seer, who will be playable in Apex Legends soon. They also showcased Apex Legends: Emergence which will feature ranked arenas and more. Emergence drops on August 3 and if you want to see more from Seer there will be some gameplay coming on Monday, July 26.
Next up is Lost in Random, which was selected for the Tribeca Film Festival. You play as Even as she tries to save her twin sister, Odd. Players will run into monsters, puzzles, friends, and more as they fight their way through the wonderfully crafted world. Combat is played on table-top arenas created by the evil queen. It is turn-based and completed through the use of cards that you collect as you play.
Knockout City, which we reviewed very well after its release in May, is headed into Season 2 entitled Fight at the Movies. This new season will have new movie and movie theatre-themed maps, skins, balls, and more coming on July 27.
Then, of course, there was a healthy amount of time dedicated to Battlefield 2042 including an in-depth look at Battlefield 2042: Portals developed by EA Ripple Effect in partnership with DICE. Battlefield 2042: Portal is a new community-driven experience that gives players the freedom to mix and match combat from Battlefield 1942, Bad Company 2, Battlefield 3, and Battlefield 2042. From a face-off against a large group of 1942 vs a small team of soldiers from 2042 to knife-only team vs a defibrillator-only team, there is a wide range of options players have to create chaos and fun in Battlefield 2042.
To end the event, we got a quick teaser trailer for the remake of Dead Space. As rumors had it, following the success of Capcom’s Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 remakes, EA has decided to bring back Dead Space, starting with the first game rebuilt entirely by Motive Studios on the Frostbite engine and coming at an unspecified date to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
That was EA Play Live 2021, a well-paced show that never lagged and spent just the right amount of time on each title before moving on. EA has a strong lineup of studios under their belt from Respawn and Motive to Codemasters and DICE, there is a lot to look forward to.
