Tom Clancy’s XDefiant is a Free-To-Play Arena Shooter from Ubisoft

Though there have been first-person shooter titles in the Tom Clancy lineup, none have competed as strongly to get a piece of Call of Duty‘s pie as much as Ubisoft San Fransico’s new game, Tom Clancy’s XDefiant. XDefiant is a first-person shooter set in the Tom Clancy universe that melds realistic gunplay, though not quite as immersive as Rainbow Six: Siege, with fast-paced action.

Players can load into the 6v6 battles to play a variety of linear game modes such as Domination and Escort. XDefiant has a class system that lets you pick a faction to give you access to certain traits, abilities, and an Ultra. These factions are inspired by other games in the Tom Clancy franchise. Wolves (Ghost Recon) are tanks, Cleaners (The Division) are assault, Echelon (Splinter Cell) are support, and Outcasts (The Division) are healers. If you start with a faction you don’t care for, you can change factions during respawn.

Tom Clancy’s XDefiant is still in early development and there is no specific news on when the game will release. However, you can sign up now on the game’s official website to get a chance to play the game during various alpha, and beta tests. Whenever the game does come out, it will release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Google Stadia, Amazon Luna, and PC.
