From the creators of This War of Mine, Frostpunk is a city-building survival game from developer and publisher 11 Bit Studios that has received critical acclaim since its release in 2018. In the three years since Frostpunk‘s launch, the game has also surpassed 3 million copies sold. Today, 11 Bit Studios has announced Frostpunk 2, the successor to their BAFTA-nominated game.
In Frostpunk 2, players will take the role of the leader for a struggling metropolis in an apocalyptic world where the search for resources is essential. Lead the charge and take over Frostland for the oil extraction industry. But be warned, not everyone will support this endeavor. Jakub Stokalski, the Co-Director of Frostpunk 2, has the following to say about the game:
What players should expect is a wide universe of choices, freedom to shape the society and the city however they see fit – and reap the consequences. Frostpunk 2 builds on the conflicts of its predecessor – survival vs human values, life vs the arctic frost. But most importantly, it adds a new layer that is present in many aspects of the game – be it politics, be it society, be it technological progress – the conflict between humans and their nature.
This isn’t all 11 Bit has up its sleeve. The Warsaw-based studio is also developing two other games that have yet to be revealed. Frostpunk 2, which is still in development, has no release window but it will be coming to PC via Steam, GOG, and Epic Game Store. You can wishlist the game now on all storefronts. If you have yet to play Frostpunk, the game is free to play this weekend from August 12 to August 16 on Steam.
