Eastward is Coming to Switch and PC in September

Not much has been said about Pixpil and Chucklefish’s Eastward since it was first announced nearly 2 years ago at a Nintendo Indie Showcase. But they are happy to announce today, during another Nintendo Indie Showcase, that the game will be releasing very soon.

Eastward is a single-player adventure RPG where you play as two different characters, John and Sam, while you travel the world by rail in an adventure to the world above. The game is set in the near future where a toxic presence has spread, leaving behind nothing but death and destruction in its wake. As you escape the tyrannical society and explore the world, you’ll solve puzzles and meet new characters and monsters in distant cities.

Along with its beautiful pixel art style, which was created using a combination of modern 3D lighting and retro-pixel style artwork, Eastward also sounds amazing. The score is composed by Joel Corelitz (The Unfinished Swan, Death Stranding, Halo Infinite) and the sound design is from Irish studio, Hyperduck Soundworks. You can get a glimpse at the gorgeous art and sound of the game in the game’s release date announcement trailer.

Eastward will be available for $24.99 on PC and Nintendo Switch on September 16. You can add the game to your wishlist now on Steam and pre-order on the Nintendo eShop. If you get Eastward early you can get the game for a discounted price. Are you excited for a new game from the publishers of Stardew Valley and Risk of Rain? Let us know in the comments below.
