With the people of Ukraine under attack, people are looking for any way that they can help. Last week, 11 Bit Games donated $850K that was raised with sales of This War of Mine. This week, Necrosoft Games worked with over 700 creators to put together an itch.io bundle filled with 991 games and other types of digital products. Everything you donate, after card processing fees, will be split 50/50 between two charities that directly help the people of Ukraine. The minimum donation amount is $10 to allow for more people to be able to afford it, but, if you are able to, donating more is strongly encouraged. Special shoutout to the current top donation, $1,694.20 for their contribution. Every dollar helps and the bundle has already raised more than their initial goal of $100K by a long shot. At the time of writing this, less than 1 day into the bundle’s 10-day offer, there are already over 100,000 contributors who have raised over $1.5 million. All proceeds will be split between the following two charities:
- International Medical Corps provides medical assistance in the region. They have very low fundraising overhead (1% of income), with 89% of donations going to medical aid and 10% to administration.
- Voices of Children is a Ukrainian organization that helps children cope with the horrors of war, PTSD, readjusting to school, and getting back to being kids. They have also been doing a lot of grassroots impromptu work during the war, such as helping set up shelters. Our hope is that this war will be over soon, and they can begin the work of healing these kids’ hearts.
With almost 1,000 games, books, and more included in the bundle, there is really something for everyone. Over 700 creators contributed to this bundle, with some, such as the game publisher Raw Fury, even signing up for itch.io simply to participate in this offer. This bundle includes games like Skatebird, Backbone, Moon Hunters, Celeste, Cloud Gardens, and more. There are puzzle games, platformers, RPGs (tabletop and digital), character creation games, visual novels, asset packs, comics, music, books and so much more. If you purchase this bundle, you are not only helping a great cause, but you are also just getting a very good deal. Click here to view the Bundle for Ukraine.
If you’re not able to support financially, consider sharing the link or retweeting the director of Necrosoft Games, Brandon Sheffield’s, tweet to help spread the word. “Let’s show the world what games can do.” Similar to our giveaway we did last weekend, we will be giving out a few of these bundles on Twitch this weekend to show our support and spread some love in the community.
