A full week has gone by and although it was somewhat quiet in terms of video game news, it wasn’t completely…silent. Here is a quick recap of the top news stories in the world of gaming from this past week:
PlayStation users are aware, or should be aware, of the upcoming change to PS Plus that is coming by now. If interested in upgrading your subscription to Extra or Premium/Deluxe but are not sure if it is worth the extra money, PlayStation has released a list on their blog of all the games that will be included at launch for the higher plans, these titles include Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Red Dead Redemption 2. Although PlayStation users can update their subscriptions whenever they would like, the update will begin rolling out as early as next week starting in Asia on May 24, Japan on June 2, North and South America on June 13, and finally Europe, Australia, and New Zealand on June 23.
Netflix released two-minute-long teasers for the first season of the live-action Resident Evil series. The teasers show that in the year 2022, the Umbrella Corporation attempts to make an all-cure pill called Joy that contains the T-Virus and starts an outbreak that not only spreads throughout the world but is long-lasting as we see the outbreak still prominent in London 14-years later in 2036. The show will follow Jade Wesker (Ella Balinska), daughter of Albert Wesker (Lance Reddick), who is fighting to survive in a world full of blood-thirsty creatures that her father has created. There will be eight one-hour episodes in the first season of the show and is scheduled to be released on July 14, 2022…if Netflix still has any subscribers by then.
Leaked Photos from an unannounced Silent Hill game have been making their way around the internet. There are several things that are being speculated now about the Silent Hill franchise like Silent Hill 2 is being remade or that there will be a full new installment in the series and a new episodic story. Now, these are all possible, but nothing has been announced or even talked about until recently. The rumors are that there was allegedly a Silent Hill game that was supposed to be released/announced last year but was completely derailed by COVID and that these screenshots are a way to tease a potential announcement. Others are saying that some of these screenshots are from a playable demo of an upcoming release and that we may be getting a new P.T. style playable demo to tease an upcoming release. Now both of these could be true or neither of these can be…unfortunately, nothing has been confirmed as of me writing this, and the next logical time we would hear something is when Capcom next appears in a big conference, but it is important to note that the original post was quick to be taken down through a copyright claim which is different from previous leaks.
