The Xbox Games Showcase ended with a small surprise for players wanting to jump into the Xbox ecosystem. While the Xbox Series X is the most powerful system Microsoft makes, the Series S is the most accessible. The system offers access to Xbox’s full library of games at a budget price. There are, of course, a few cut corners to get the price so low, mainly in internal power and storage. This new system offers an alternative to the latter.
The new Xbox Series S has 1TB of storage and will be releasing worldwide on September 1, just in time for Xbox’s biggest release of the year: Starfield. Along with the storage upgrade, the system is also Carbon Black, just like its big brother. The system also comes with a black Xbox controller to match.
The system is more expensive than the original system, owing to the expanded storage. The Carbon Black Xbox Series S will cost $349 and pre-orders are open now.
Now if you already have a Series S, it is important to remember that you can also purchase additional storage to plug into the SSD slot in the back. These can range in price from $80 to $150.
