In Stars and Time is a time loop RPG from Adrienne Bazir aka insertdisc5. Take control of party leader Siffrin and lead a group of adventurers at the end of their journey to defeat a king who is slowly freezing the land in time. Oh, and there’s a time loop. What seems like a handy trick for a surefire victory quickly begins to weigh on Siffrin as he experiences the loop over and over with no end in sight. Find a way to break the loop before the loop breaks him.
Key Features of In Stars and Time

- Eat samosas with your friends!

- Pray to a god for good luck in your travels. You’re gonna need it.
I actually got the chance to play a few hours of In Stars and Time last week and though it has its charms, the game didn’t really click with me. I do find the characters to be quirky and I also kinda dig the implementation of rock, paper, scissors into turn-based combat. But, on the flip side, I think the time loop concept makes the game feel a bit repetitive. There are some cool mechanics in the game, however, like the ability to equip a memory to a party member and the use of praying for blessings.
My first impressions aside, the embargo is up for the game and the reviews seem positive with most noting that the story is great despite the repetitive gameplay. For fans of Undertale, this seems to be an easy recommendation. While I would have loved to squeeze the game in before the end of the year, taking into account the game’s hefty runtime, I’m hoping to get back to the game at a later date. As for now, In Stars and Time is out now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. You can watch the release trailer below.
