Welcome back to The Inbox! Every week, we line up a few of the most interesting indie games that appear in our email inbox to spotlight for our readers. This week, we have a variety of games ranging from a survival game coming to new consoles to a narrative-driven detective role-playing game. You can watch the video version of The Inbox above or check out the games for yourself below.

Kill the Shadow

Publisher 663 Games and developer Shadowlight Sanctuary have today revealed Kill the Shadow, a suspenseful narrative-driven detective role-playing game coming to PC via Steam later in 2024. Brought to life using a combination of highly detailed 3D environments and 2D-pixel art characters, Kill the Shadow transports you to an alternative post-war divided city as you take on the role of Detective Ah’Guang as you investigate a series of murders.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits

The PlayStation launch exclusive, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, is finally coming to Xbox. The story-driven, action-adventure combines exploration with fast-paced combat. Untangle the past as Kena, a young Spirit Guide in search of the sacred Mountain Shrine. Help free the spirits trapped in a forgotten village with the help of the Rot, Kena’s adorable (yet powerful) spirit companions.

Crypt Custodian

From publisher Top Hat Studios and veteran developer Kyle Thompson (Sheepo, Islets), comes Crypt Custodian, a charming top-down Metroidvania-meets-Zelda-like that’s coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC on August 27. Grab your trusty broom and play as Pluto, a mischievous cat who has just died and landed in the Afterlife’s Palace. After a disastrous meeting with the Afterlife Guardian, Kendra, you are banished and sentenced to be the afterworld’s janitor… FOREVER!

Green Hell

Creepy Jar has announced that the long-awaited current-gen console launch of Green Hell will arrive on August 14. Coming to both Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, it will be a free upgrade for all owners of the last-gen version of the game and will bring with it previously unreleased content that until now has been available exclusively for the PC version.

Thalassa: Edge of the Abyss

Serepta Studio and Team17 Digital have today launched the first-person psychological mystery Thalassa: Edge of the Abyss on PC. Developed by the same team that created My Child Lebensborn, Thalassa Edge of the Abyss delves deep into a melancholic journey of self-discovery, intricate relationships, and sea-drenched sorrow. Follow the journey of deep-sea diver Cam and undertake an expedition to the final resting place of the Thalassa, Cam’s old ship, which now lies shipwrecked and abandoned on the sea floor.
